Acronis vmProtect: Troubleshooting Slow Backup

Complete all steps before proceeding to collect information step. 

1. If the Hot-Add functionality cannot be used because Acronis vmProtect Windows Agent is installed or the virtual appliance is running on another VMware ESXi host, check whether backup speed differs if run backup task from a virtual appliance running on the same VMware ESXi host as the virtual machine.
2. If the Hot-add functionality is used, check backup speed with another virtual appliance. This test should show whether the problem is related to the specific virtual appliance or not. 
3. Check backup speed to another location. For example, if prevoiusly backup was set to a network share, check backup speed to a local storage. If using the virtual appliance, you can create a new virtual disk, attach it to the virtual appliance and create new local storage on this virtual disk. 
4. Check copying speed to the backup location from the machine with Acronis vmProtect Windows agent installed or from the virtual machine that uses the same network virtual adapter as the virtual appliance (skip this step if backing up to Acronis Online Storage). 

These tests are crucially important for problem localization and defining the bottleneck of the backup speed. If all steps above have been executed and the root cause is still not clear, go to collect information step

 Collect the following information and contact Acronis Customer Central.

1. Results of tests performed in the Troubleshooting step.
2. Detailed information about the backup location.
3. Debug log of backup operation captured as described in Acronis vmProtect: Collecting Debug Logs for Virtual Appliance and Windows Agent.
4. Acronis System Report from the machine with Acronis vmProtect Windows Agent installed if the problem appears using this Windows Agent. It can be captured using AcronisInfo utility.
